Snowy start to the spring semester at IU Bloomington

IU Bloomington transformed into a winter wonderland throughout the beginning of 2025. Snow blanketed the array of trees and historic limestone buildings across campus at times in January and February, creating opportunities for seasonal activities like sledding and snow angels.

While winter weather can be fun, it can also make travel and access to buildings challenging. After more than 16 inches of snow fell in Bloomington in early January, some behind-the-scenes IU employees took a front-and-center role – clearing roads, parking lots, walkways and steps so faculty and staff could get to work and the campus would be in good shape when spring semester classes resumed.
